Louie Vega - 4 August 08

Hi everyone, i've been on holidays so I didn't came here regularly... By the way, last monday I had the great oppurtunity to go to the Vega Records night here in Portugal, on Sasha beach... It was the first time I heard him live and just as I expected it was awesome. He's nothing more than the best producer and dj of the world and he's one of the innovators of what we call today house music. Also known for his work with Kenny Dope Gonzales by "Masters At Work" and for winning a grammy, this man has a huge musical culture and he is an amazing talent that should not be missed. I think everyone who really loves this style of music must love "Little" Louie Vega. As I said it was the first time I heard him live and it was great, he played great music and his mixing skills are perfect. In the first minutes he played one of my favourite tracks ever (Lil Mo Yin Yang "Reach", track made by him and Erick Morillo on 1995, released on Strictly Rhythm)... he kept playing good music, from Mr. V's tracks to classics like "I Can't Get No Sleep", also played new music like the Dennis Ferrer remix of The Sunburst Bands' "Journey To The Sun", his wife Anane's "Bem Ma Mi" and "Shake Dat Booty", some Boddhi Satva's and more of his own tunes. For the end of his amazing and perfect set he also played some "more commercial" stuff like What a Wonderful World by Axwell, Bob Sinclar & Ron Carroll... and he pulled out various acapellas along his mix like Mr. V's jus dance and Ruffneck's "Everybody Be Somebody"... It was the best night of house music I've noticed in my life, hope I can hear the maestro soon again :)

Anyone of you can check out his releases on www.traxsource.com or on his own label www.vegarecords.net ... Also check his Myspace and his productions with Kenny Dope by Masters at Work ;)
