Incredible talent a.k.a. Lawrence Philpot!

Oh yeah right. I know I'm very young... But my interest in electronic music is much bigger than my age. Nowadays, most of the people who are interested in house music don't know its roots, they only listen to what radio stations decide they should like... I think that's very bad. House music is a culture. It has history, origins! People who really LOVE this kind of music should understand and be curious about that.

And so... Today I really want to talk about the genial Lawrence Philpot, Larry Levan!

He was really incredible... His disco/house/garage style and his open-minded and eclectic way of mixing music influenced and changed the life of many of the DJs, producers and remixers we know today. He was the resident of New York's Paradise Garage for more than 10 years and he was one of the creators of the house music we hear today. Unfortunately, he died in 1992 at the age of 38. I could stay here forever talking about him but it's not necessary... I wish I was already born so I could be there on those fantastic parties at the Paradise Garage! He is a really good inspiration...

Mas que festões no grande Paradise Garage! Quem me dera lá ter estado! Dava tudo para estar numa daquelas festas! Larry Levan é o maior!
